Stepping up its campaign against the alleged leak of a recruitment test question paper by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), the BJP sought the resignation of State IT Minister K T Rama Rao and an investigation into the matter by a sitting court on Saturday.

Rama Rao, on the other hand, refused the resignation request, claiming that the TSPSC is an autonomous entity.

Addressing a ‘Maha Dharna’ organised by his party in support of the paper leak issue and job opportunities for unemployed youth, State BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar questioned why Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has yet to respond to the paper leak issue, which affects approximately 30 lakh youth in the state.

He said why the BRS administration is not prepared for a probe by a sitting court into the matter.

Seeing that many unemployed impoverished youngsters studied for the tests, he suggested that the government provide Rs one lakh in financial support to those who took the TSPSC exam.

Kumar expressed confidence that the BJP will win power in the state, saying that once in power, his party would produce a “employment calendar” every year to fill government positions.

The Narendra Modi administration is holding ‘Rozgar melas’ as part of its massive recruiting drive. According to him, there are no abnormalities in the Centre’s recruitment campaign.

He urged Rama Rao’s resignation, stating that his party will increase its protest.

Kumar stated that the BJP will hold a ‘nirudyoga march’ (a march in favour of the unemployed) from April 2 to 6 at the capitals of 10 districts throughout the state that existed previous to district re-organization in Telangana.

Referring to Chandrasekhar Rao’s description of the day Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha as a “dark day,” he said that Rao did not reply to the paper leak but instead decided to remark on Gandhi for political reasons.

Earlier in the ‘Maha Dharna,’ the State BJP president lambasted the BRS government for the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged document leak sending letters to him and other opposition leaders rather than pursuing legal action against those responsible.

State Congress president and MP A Revanth Reddy appeared before the SIT on Thursday after being called to give evidence in connection with the matter.

However, Rama Rao, the son of Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao, rebuffed the resignation demand, claiming that the TSPSC is an autonomous entity that acts independently.

Rama Rao, who spoke at a BRS public gathering here on Saturday evening, stated that Modi pledged to create two crore employment every year, totaling 18 crore jobs by now.

The BJP leaders who staged a dharna in Hyderabad should clarify whether the NDA administration at the Centre has provided at least 18 lakh employment, he added.

In reference to the BJP’s intended ‘nirudyoga march,’ Rama Rao stated that the march should be “conducted in front of Narendra Modi’s house in Delhi.” He further chastised the BJP for allegedly failing to deliver on pledges such as “doubling farmers’ income by 2022” and “returning black money.”

He wondered if the similar number of job appointments made in Telangana during the previous eight and a half years had been made anyplace else in India.

Recognizing the issue of paper leakage, he stated that the relevant examinations have been cancelled and that those guilty would not be spared.

Observing that the BRS government had established coaching centres and other facilities for the benefit of job seekers, he stated that the government will continue its honest efforts to give jobs to youngsters in both the public and private sectors.

The IT Minister also emphasised the BRS government’s many welfare programmes, such as social security pensions, the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ investment support programme for farmers, and life insurance for ryots.

Many persons, including TSPSC workers, have been detained for their suspected participation in the data breach, including obtaining and sharing question papers from the TSPSC’s Associate Engineer (Civil) examination, among others.

The TSPSC postponed the March 5 Assistant Engineers (AE) exam on March 15, citing accusations that the question material had been leaked.

The Commission suspended the Group-I preliminary exam, as well as two additional exams, in response to objections from opposition parties and student organisations over the suspected leak of question papers.
